We are dedicated to empowering economically challenged and underprivileged students. We accomplish this by holding a backpack giveaway every year prior to the school year.
Our names are Ben, Alex and Zachary Greer and we attend Santa Clara University, Boston University, and Bellarmine College Preparatory and 8 years ago we started Back to School Backpacks and since that time we have given away nearly 3000 backpacks filled with a years worth of supplies to kids in need in Silicon Valley. We are asking for your support.
Each year we distribute these backpacks at the beginning of the school year to at risk youth in San Jose and surrounding areas. The recipients are kids whose parents are involved in programs and housing services through organizations such as InnVision the Way Home.
We are in need of monetary donations in order to purchase these supplies and backpacks. The kids we will be giving the backpacks to normally would not be able to have new backpacks and supplies for the new school year. We would like to help as many children as possible in the San Jose area start the new school year with the supplies it takes to help them learn. We think giving kids backpacks and supplies will allow them to come prepared for the year and help them feel more secure about school and therefore give them the opportunity to succeed. In the long run this student will be a success in school, have a better chance of going to college and therefore get a well paying job.
